Canglong galvanized steel structure solution helps Guadeloupe warehouse project
On the French island of Guadeloupe in the Caribbean, a steel structure warehouse is rising. As the core supplier of the project, Canglong Group not only met the harsh local marine environment needs with its independently developed galvanized steel structure system, but also delivered an outstanding answer to overseas customers with its high cost performance and full-cycle service model. Through innovative designs such as portal frame structure optimization and hot-dip galvanizing of all components, this plan reduces the overall project cost by 20% and increases the corrosion resistance by 3 times.
As a French overseas department, Guadeloupe’s unique tropical maritime climate poses a double challenge to architecture. Average annual heavy rainfall of 2000mm, high temperature and high humidity environment above 30℃, and sea breeze containing chloride ions are highly corrosive to metal components. Traditional color steel plates or ordinary steel structures often become corroded and perforated after 3-5 years of use, and maintenance costs account for more than 15% of the total construction cost.
The technical team of Canglong Group found in the preliminary survey that the salt spray concentration in the project location reached 0.8 mg/m³, and conventional anti-corrosion coatings can only maintain effective protection for 2-3 years. To this end, the R&D team innovatively proposed a combination of hot-dip galvanizing and structural optimization. All components are made of Q355B high-strength steel, which is treated in a 460°C zinc bath to form an 85μm thick coating. Together with the unique ventilation and heat dissipation design of the portal frame, the overall lifespan of the building exceeds the 50-year mark.

Five core advantages of galvanized steel structure
1. Improved corrosion resistance
The hot-dip galvanizing process forms a dense zinc-iron alloy layer on the surface of the steel, which remains stable even in acid and alkali environments with a pH value of 4-12. Laboratory accelerated corrosion tests show that under simulated Guadeloupe climate conditions, the corrosion depth of galvanized components is only 0.02mm in 10 years, which is 8 times more protective than ordinary painted components.
2. Double structural efficiency
The portal frame system is equipped with H-shaped steel main components to achieve a span of 18-24 meters without intermediate supports. Finite element analysis was used to optimize the node design, reducing the stress concentration coefficient at the beam-column connection from 1.8 to 1.2, and increasing the material utilization rate by 25%. C-shaped steel purlins adopt continuous cold-bending forming technology, and the deflection is controlled within L/250, saving 18% of steel consumption compared with traditional channel steel.
3. The construction period is reduced by 40%
All components are standardized and prefabricated at the Henan production base of Canglong Group, including 23 quality inspections such as galvanized layer thickness testing and weld ultrasonic flaw detection. The on-site assembly construction is mainly based on bolt connections and supplemented by welding. The single-span installation time is shortened to 72 hours, which reduces the on-site workload by 60% compared with traditional cast-in-place concrete structures.
4. Full life cycle cost optimization
Although the initial investment is 15% higher than that of ordinary steel structures, the maintenance-free design, the construction period benefits brought by quick installation, and the characteristics of recyclable materials reduce the full-cycle cost of the project by 22%. According to estimates, the cumulative maintenance cost savings over a 30-year period of use are approximately 1.2 million euros.
5. Model of green construction
The energy consumption of the galvanizing process is 35% lower than that of powder spraying, and the zinc layer can be 100% recycled. BIM technology was used for collision inspection during project construction, reducing material waste by 12%. A rainwater collection system is set up on site for component cleaning, achieving a water resource recycling rate of 80%.

Insisting on quality from components to systems
In the Guadeloupe warehouse project, Canglong Group implemented "millimeter-level precision" throughout:
H-shaped steel column foot: adopts double bottom plate design, connected to the foundation through M30 high-strength bolts, and the preload error is controlled within ±3%.
C-shaped steel purlins: The spacing is modularly arranged at 1.5 meters, equipped with a self-tapping screw connection system, and the wind resistance performance reaches 1.5kPa.
Support system: The X-shaped cross support uses Φ20 round steel, and the slenderness ratio is strictly controlled within 150 to ensure that the seismic performance meets the VIII degree fortification requirements.
Anti-corrosion details: All bolts are treated with Dacromet, and additional zinc-aluminum alloy spraying is added to the weld area to form double protection.
The specially designed trapezoidal roof truss slope not only meets local drainage regulations, but also reduces the indoor temperature by 3-5°C through natural ventilation. Coupled with the electric opening window system, the humidity in the warehouse can be kept below 65% all year round, providing an ideal environment for storing sensitive goods such as medicines and food.
From product output to standard leadership
This project is not only the first fully galvanized steel structure project of Canglong Group in the Caribbean, but also promoted the formation of the "Technical Specification for the Application of Steel Structures in Tropical Marine Environments" corporate standard. By introducing the European EN 1090 certification system, the entire process from raw material procurement to component transportation can be traced.
At present, this plan has attracted active contact from customers from countries such as Jamaica and Barbados, and is expected to drive orders in the regional market to grow by more than 30%.
What Canglong sells is not steel, but solutions that create value for customers. This concept, with technological innovation as the core and customer demand as the guide, is writing a new Chinese story in the global infrastructure field. The galvanized steel structure solution of Canglong Group will shine in more island areas and become a golden link connecting Chinese manufacturing and global demand.
