Thailand plant steel structure project progress and technical advantages
Recently, our company's construction of the standardized steel structure factory building project in the Thailand Industrial Park has achieved important milestone results - the first batch of customized steel structure components have been successfully transported internationally and arrived at the construction site. This marks the official entry of the project into the main installation phase, with an expected construction period shortened by 30% compared to traditional building models, laying a solid foundation for the owner to create an efficient and low-carbon modern production base.
As a benchmark project in the field of industrial infrastructure in Southeast Asia, this project adopts a fully assembled steel structure system, and its technological advantages run through the entire project cycle:
Modular precision manufacturing: Components are prefabricated with high precision in the factory, achieving millimeter level error control and increasing on-site assembly efficiency by 50% compared to concrete structures;
Excellent seismic and wind resistance performance: using H-shaped steel frame and support system, with node connections certified by the International Steel Structure Code (AISC), it can withstand earthquakes of magnitude 8 and typhoon conditions in the Gulf of Thailand;
The advantage of rapid construction is prominent: the main body of the standard span main factory building can be lifted in just 15 days, saving a lot of formwork support and maintenance time compared to traditional construction;
The green construction attribute is significant: steel is 100% recyclable, on-site welding operations are reduced by 60%, and the amount of construction waste generated is reduced by 85% compared to traditional factories;
Flexible spatial adaptability: Large span column free space design (with a maximum span of 36 meters), reserved equipment pipeline pre embedded channels to meet future production capacity upgrade needs.
Since the project was launched in 2024, the Sino Thai joint engineering team has overcome challenges such as cross-border transportation, high temperature and rainy climate, and strictly followed ASTM international material standards for quality control. At present, the foundation treatment and embedded parts installation have been completed on site. The first batch of steel columns and beams are being assembled according to the BIM model positioning. It is expected to complete the main hoisting by the end of June, 10 days ahead of the planned node. After the project is completed, it will integrate a photovoltaic roof system and a rainwater harvesting device to achieve LEED Gold green certification standards.
The arrival of the steel structure marks the transition of the project from early preparation to substantive construction, fully demonstrating the technical adaptability and economic advantages of modular steel structures in Southeast Asian tropical climates.
